• Virtual Voyage of Antarctic with Quark Expeditions and TourWrist

We’re headed south – way south – via Quark Expeditions’ 189 passenger super-yacht, the Ocean Diamond, to join Jonathan Shackleton (cousin of Sir Ernest Shackleton) and Falcon Scott (grandson of Robert Falcon Scott).

Jonathan and Falcon are descendants of two great explorers who will be Experts-in-Residence on the 11-day Antarctic Explorer voyage departing February 9, 2013 from Ushuaia, Argentina.

TourWrist has teamed up with Quark Expeditions’ Photography Guide and IAPP Pano-Pro Photographer, Susanne Weissenberger, who will be shooting and sharing her immersive panoramic images with you on this voyage.

Antarctica is one of the world’s most remote and remarkable destinations to experience. Susanne’s 360-degree panoramas will capture all the incredible wildlife including penguins, seals, whale and seabirds as well as incredible ice and stunning Antarctic vistas.

You can view Susannes panos from Quark’s Antarctic expedition – plus see virtual tours of the cabins aboard the Quark Expeditions’ ships – with this Quark Expeditions app powered by TourWrist.

TourWrist & Quark Expeditions’ Virtual Voyage Itinerary

Day 1: Embarkation in Ushuaia, Argentina. We’ll set sail down the historic Beagle Channel.

Days 2-3: We’ll cross the mythical Drake Passage and keep watch for the first sign of land, the world’s southern most continent

Days 4-8: Having reached the northern tip of the Antarctic peninsula, we’ll set out on Zodiacs to explore the various bays, channels and islands as we cruise farther south. Well take Zodiac excursions from the ship each day as well as various landings where we’ll have many encounters with wildlife, including curious Adelie, gentoo and chinstrap penguins, seals, and whales. You’ll get to experience 360-degree views of the surroundings, including incredible vistas and colourful icescapes. We may even add an extra dose of adventure to our Antarctica experience by capturing a few of Quark’s camping, mountaineering, or sea-kayaking excursions during the voyage.

Days 9-10: We journey back across the Drake Passage

Day 11: Were back in Ushuaia
